What do you do if you run a successful business and yet have to rely on consultants to tell you how much stock you have at any particular moment in time? Prénatal Moeder & Kind B.V, the leading Dutch maternity products distributor and retailer, was in such a position, employing an external company to run automated inventory counts across its 19 megastores and 40 city stores throughout the Netherlands.

As with most everything in retail today, consumers are demanding more at point-of-purchase. No longer is it enough to make the checkout process as efficient as possible.

Your customers want inventory look up, direct ordering, delivery information, the option to print or email their receipt; and to be able to pay with cash, credit, debit or mobile payment. They want all of this – and to have it all happen where they stand, whether or not that is at a checkout counter.

A few weeks ago I went to see the third installment of the Hunger Games franchise, Mockingjay. The best part of going to the local movie theater, is that it is situated in the middle of an outlet shopping mall. Ironically, that’s also the worst part of going to the movies.

Farm to Table - The Importance of Food Traceability

Lately, I’ve noticed restaurants increasingly advertising that their ingredients come from Farm to Table, meaning they are sourced from local farmers – and in some cases grown by the restaurant owners themselves. Now, the Locavore movement is not new, but it has gained popularity over the last few years.
