Visionaries in Visibility: Beyond Big Data

Posted by Zebra Global September 22, 2016 at 8:30 AM

We’ve all heard the buzz phrase “big data.” It refers to the practice of collecting information on customers, operations and other key data sets in your business. But what many companies forget is that in order to benefit from big data, you can’t just collect the data – you need to be able to analyze it and act on it to improve your business. Until recently, this has been no small task.

Visionaries in Visibility: The World in 2020

Posted by Zebra Global September 15, 2016 at 8:30 AM

The world is on the brink of a fourth industrial revolution that will fundamentally transform the way we live, work and play. Already, technology is blurring the lines between the physical and digital worlds with more and more physical assets being monitored and improved using digital technologies.

Today, 5 billion physical assets are connected through the Internet of Things (IoT), and an estimated 5.5 million new physical assets are connecting every single day. By 2020, industry pundits predict that 21 billion physical “things” will be connected through IoT, giving the world unprecedented visibility into physical assets.

Gaming – Empower The Integrated Resort Experience

Posted by Garry Reichert June 27, 2016 at 10:00 AM

Casino resorts of the future need to attract a younger generation of guests who have even higher expectations for personalized experiences.  To achieve that, they need to create a smarter casino environment enabled by something we call Enterprise Asset Intelligence.

The idea is to gain insight into all the resort’s assets, whether that be guests, staff, gaming equipment, or inventory, and gather that asset intelligence in real-time in an automatic way that enables resorts to engage guests and elevate revenue.

OEM Mobile Point of Sale – Customer Demands Drives mPOS

Posted by Garry Reichert June 13, 2016 at 10:00 AM

As with most everything in retail today, consumers are demanding more at point-of-purchase. No longer is it enough to make the checkout process as efficient as possible.

Your customers want inventory look up, direct ordering, delivery information, the option to print or email their receipt; and to be able to pay with cash, credit, debit or mobile payment. They want all of this – and to have it all happen where they stand, whether or not that is at a checkout counter.

OEM Healthcare – Bar Codes: The Vital Stats

Posted by Garry Reichert May 9, 2016 at 10:00 AM

In today’s OEM designs for healthcare, equipment manufacturers can easily incorporate advanced technologies to enhance their applications. Despite the rise of increasingly sophisticated solutions, a core technology remains: the barcode scanner.

Often viewed as the enabler of retail checkout, the barcode scanner actually plays an equally if not more critical role in ensuring patient safety. The automatic data collection offered by scanning adds indispensable value to healthcare applications by streamlining data capture and transfer to reduce errors and offer greater safety for the patient.

OEM Healthcare – Automating the Collection of Patient Information

Posted by Garry Reichert April 18, 2016 at 10:00 AM

Within the healthcare industry, there's a huge opportunity to automate the collection of information.

If we take a look at a nurse's shift, let's say a typical 8-hour shift, 35 percent of the time is documenting. That means 2 to 3 hours per day is spent simply capturing information manually.

If you look at the way documentation occurs within a hospital environment, very often it involves capturing vitals and statistics on the palm of nurse’s hand or on a post-it note. That information is then translated into another hand-written type of media, and then finally inputted into an electronic medical records system at the nurses' station. It’s a very manual way of collecting data with lots of opportunity for error. In fact, in the United States alone, there are 98,000 deaths a year because of errors associated with medication administration.

OEM Integration – How to Market OEM to Marketing

Posted by Garry Reichert March 28, 2016 at 10:00 AM

“Marketing doesn’t always understand OEM.”

It’s something I hear a lot. Why does it matter? After all, Zebra Marketing understands OEM, so why bring it up?

OEM WLAN – If They Can’t Connect, You Can’t Connect with Your Customers

Posted by Garry Reichert March 16, 2016 at 9:00 AM

When things become ubiquitous, you tend to not give them too much thought. Somehow, it all works. The TV turns on, the water comes out of the faucet, and the car starts. That is, until they don’t. Then, and usually only then, do you come to realize how much you rely on technology to get even the most basic of things done. (Try brushing your teeth without water.)
