“A World of Good, One Community at a Time.”  At Zebra, this mantra defines the outreach goal of our community relations team. While it’s important to be focused on best practices that help drive businesses to be more effective and efficient, it’s also important for us to take a moment to celebrate the importance of giving back.

The Zebra community relations program was established in 2011 to help encourage, support and formally recognize volunteer and outreach efforts across the globe.  The program embraces a particular mission: “Improving our communities by providing a global program with local implementation, where we live out our values by giving of our time and resources.”

To make this mission a reality, the Zebra community relations program embraces its own idea of “glocalization”—the combination of globalization and localization—by creating global events that all Zebra employees could participate in within their regions, while at the same time establishing methods by which individuals who volunteer outside of Zebra events can be recognized and supported in their efforts.

Zebra’s first official global initiative was the 2013 breast cancer awareness drive held during the last two weeks of October. Zebra distributed ZXP Series 7 card printers and supplies to each Zebra regional location. For a donation of any amount, employees received a luggage tag or badge card that could be personalized to honor or remember someone impacted by breast cancer. Zebra raised more than $18,000 during the two-week drive and employees still showcase their personalized cards with pride.
