Have you ever wondered what technology will look like in 100 years?  If you’re anything like us here at Zebra, we imagine a world in which everything is connected.  Check out this fun, quick read from Small Business Trends regarding some predictions on what the internet could look like in 100 years.

What do you think? So many things in our lives are already connected; what could possibly be next?  According to the article, “[everything] on the planet will finally be plugged in where augmented reality could become embedded in everything we do (think Google Glass without the dorky spectacles).

While augmented reality and an entirely new and more sophisticated internet may seem like a very distant future, it is incredible to see the innovation that exists today in the very markets and industries we serve.

Today, we see farmers tagging cattle with RFID technology and keeping track of them through cutting edge mobile applications to ensure animal health and operational efficiencies. Retailers are leveraging mobile technology to serve shoppers like never before and anticipate shopper needs with incredibly accuracy. Sports teams are using state of the art real time locating systems (RTLS) to track athlete performance and improve the games that we all know and love.

So while in 100 years from now the world will look very different, the future is NOW and the Internet of Things is truly the Internet of Everything. Smart crock-pots, smart cars, smart watches, smart cows – and don’t forget rugged devices – are all communicating to help better your life and your productivity.
