HOW A DANISH RETAILER HAS DEPLOYED TECHNOLOGY TO IMPROVE EFFICIENCIES ACROSS ITS BUSINESS

Leading Danish wholesaler Shoe-D-Vision was aware that the mobile devices it used to help partners select and buy stock at it sales exhibitions were not up to scratch. As a retailer that enjoys a reputation for being a technology trailblazer it looked to deploy new mobile computers.

UNDERSTANDING SHOE-D-VISION’S NEEDS

Aware that selecting new hardware is a critical decision – and that getting it wrong can be costly – Shoe-D-Vision worked closely with partner Delfi Technologies and Zebra Technologies to select the right mobile device.

ZEBRA’S TC51: BEAUTIFULLY DESIGNED…FOR WORK

Shoe-D-Vision wanted to move to an Android platform and to select a future-proof device, with a sleek design and a large screen. Zebra’s TC51 was the obvious choice. Cooperative members now use the TC51s at the biannual exhibitions to pre-order stock from over 25,000 items on display; and at the next exhibition they will be able to see all the new season stock and access a wealth of product information on-screen via Shoe-D-Vision’s in-house SHOEshow app.

SMOOTH TRANSITION TO ENTERPRISE CLASS SOLUTION: ZEBRA’S MOBILITY EXTENSIONS (MX) AND WORKFORCE CONNECT

Delfi helped to ease the migration to the new system and hardware and maximise potential by:

  • Adapting Shoe-D-Vision’s software to an Android platform
  • Managing the Zebra
  • Deploying Zebra’s

Shoe-D-Vision now has the perfect enterprise device for its business.

ROLLING OUT IN-STORE

With the technology working so well, Shoe-D-Vision decided to roll out the TC51s to its stores as well. So, Shoe-D-Vision equipped store staff with TC51s running RAPTOOL and its bespoke retail software SHOEpda. Back office teams use the devices for stock control and sales staff to assist customers.

REMOTE MANAGEMENT: SOTI® MOBICONTROL

Delfi hosts and manages the Enterprise Mobility Management solution SOTI MobiControl for Shoe-D-Vision so the TC51s can be remotely:

  • Configured
  • Managed
  • Updated

This is critical, especially for shops in remote towns, and saves Shoe-D-Vision time and money.

BEST FOOT FORWARD

Moving forward, Shoe-D-Vision is looking to introduce a range of further uses for the TC51s, including its soon-to-be-launched omnichannel, which lets sales staff help customers in-store place orders with its web store, if that model is not available in the shop. Shoe-D-Vision will keep blazing that trail…
