DC Velocity is the market leading multi-media magazine brand serving the specific informational needs of logistics and supply chain managers and executives. Zebra Technologies' Juliann Larimer, chief marketing officer, is a contributor on their The Value of Visibility blog.

This week on The Value of Visibility, Juliann provides a sneak peak of the next generation technology to expect at MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference in Boston.

Here is an excerpt from the Next Generation of Sports Technology post:

Over the past several years, technology has changed the ways we interact, connect and work. Sports are no different. And though the industry has utilized basic technologies in the past, recent advances have created new opportunities for the fans, players and coaches to enjoy games on a new level. Zebra is excited to be a signature partner in this week's MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference in Boston.

Here are some of the innovative sports solutions we hope to see:

Prediction Analytics: Prediction analysis is an exciting area in athletics powered by technology. Companies like Disney Research will be presenting research on the process they developed to more accurately measure the chance a soccer player will score using spatiotemporal data. Teams can use data like this to improve their game strategy.

Purchasing Decisions: Though it may not be on-field action, technology has advanced the way fans can purchase tickets. With such a large number of tickets going unsold at professional sporting events, both fans and sporting leagues are missing out. At the MIT conference, Google will explain how "path to purchase" allows fans to become aware of unsold tickets, enhancing the overall experience.
