The eighth in a series of blogs taking a closer look at Zebra's 2014 global study, commissioned by Forrester Consulting, on IoT implementation in the enterprise. The series will culminate in a Twitter chat discussing the Internet of Things.
Zebra Technologies recently released a commissioned Forrester Consulting study on the state of the Internet of Things (IoT). The global report collected findings from companies all over the world including the APAC region.
Over 80 percent of the firms surveyed in APAC believe that IoT solutions will be the most strategic initiative for their organization in the next decade. This finding confirms that companies in Asia are excited to start deploying IoT.
The survey also found that most APAC companies expect IoT to provide operational and actionable data on the location and condition of their assets. This data will help companies enhance relationships and mitigate risk while enabling new functionality. APAC firms also expect IoT to give companies better insights into their assets and data, allowing them to better serve their customers. IoT will enable the mobile workforce and allow employees all over the world to access actionable data about their assets and help them make better business decisions.
And more than 70 percent of APAC respondents agree on the power of IoT and have already started to implement IoT solutions. Of the respondents that have not yet deployed IoT, they have been required to begin making structural changes to prepare for IoT deployment in the coming years.
Construction of new cities, buildings, and state-of-the-art infrastructure in many Asia Pacific countries enables this strong IoT solution momentum. In comparison, between 52% and 60% of European and North American firms are in these same stages of IoT solution deployment.
At Zebra, we have been using and optimizing our IoT platform, Zatar, for years and we are excited to offer actionable data to customers to help their businesses thrive.
