Making it easier to donate to charity

Posted by Hannah Moule November 16, 2017 at 8:15 AM

Companies – and indeed individuals – often have great intentions of cutting waste and donating to charity.  But it’s easier said than done. The practicalities can be daunting and time-consuming.

That’s where Zebra ISV partner TAAP comes in. TAAP has developed a Food Donation Service, which allows supermarkets and grocers to, effectively and accurately, record and sort food for charitable donation.  The app has been developed in consultation with major retailers – it’s easy to use and it works.

In manufacturing, success used to belong to those who could predict demand long into the future and use this foresight to gain an edge through more effective planning. But things have changed. Increasingly, consumers want personalised products and this has seen a huge increase in product variants and hence need items built to order and dispatched faster than ever. In fact, we’re moving into an era where a plant needs to adjust to orders in real time – with all the consequences that has on managing bills of materials, production and more.
